A reminder for schools to connect to Te Rito has today been published on the Ministry’s website. The item covers requirements for schools for Term 4 2026.
An SMS connection to Te Rito before the end of Term 4 will ensure records of current students follow them and can be used for Te Rito-enabled services from Term 1.
Schools with a Hero, Edge or KAMAR SMS can connect to Te Rito themselves, eTAP schools connect with their provider’s support.
As a data exchange technology, Te Rito makes student information available in the SMS of connected schools when an enrolment is confirmed. The Ministry is working with providers to enable this in their SMS from Term 1 2027.
Principals are also encouraged to work with schools in their network on the types of data they want to flow between each school’s SMS.
